Evensong, Verse, Prayer and Psalm.

VERSE OF THE DAY.
By Senior Pastor Don Roy Hemingway.

Galatians 5:24.

24 Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.
Tonight’s Hymn.

The Evening Psalm.

Psalm 59. 21st Century King James Version (KJ21)

Deliver me from mine enemies, O my God; defend me from them that rise up against me.

Deliver me from the workers of iniquity, and save me from bloody men.

For lo, they lie in wait for my soul; the mighty are gathered against me, not for my transgression, nor for my sin, O Lord.

They run and prepare themselves though I am not at fault. Awake to help me, and behold!

Thou therefore, O Lord God of hosts, the God of Israel, awake to visit all the heathen; be not merciful to any wicked transgressors. Selah

They return at evening; they make a noise like a dog and go round about the city.

Behold, they belch out with their mouth; swords are in their lips; “For who,” say they, “doth hear?”

But Thou, O Lord, shalt laugh at them; Thou shalt hold all the heathen in derision.

Because of his strength, I will wait upon Thee; for God is my defense.

10 The God of my mercy shall go before me; God shall let me see my desire upon mine enemies.

11 Slay them not, lest my people forget; scatter them by Thy power and bring them down, O Lord our shield.

12 For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips, let them even be taken in their pride, and for the cursing and lying which they speak.

13 Consume them in wrath, consume them, that they may not be; and let them know that God ruleth in Jacob unto the ends of the earth. Selah

14 And at evening let them return, and let them make a noise like a dog and go round about the city.

15 Let them wander up and down for meat, and grumble if they be not satisfied.

16 But I will sing of Thy power, yea, I will sing aloud of Thy mercy in the morning; for Thou hast been my defense and refuge in the day of my trouble.

17 Unto Thee, O my Strength, will I sing; for God is my defence, and the God of my mercy.

Evening Prayer.

O eternal God and Father, you are not the God of the dead but of the living,
and all who put their trust in you, who rest in their chambers under the earth,
live in you. Be merciful to us, dear Father, do not let us be afraid of the power and sting of death, but keep us in the true faith in your dear Son, who is the way, the truth, and the life. Uphold us with your Holy Spirit, and give us a clear conscience, that we may live our Christian lives, and finally fall asleep in peace and joy when we leave this valley of tears, and rest in peace until you open our graves and awaken us with the sound of the last trumpet; through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

The Cheerful Giver.

The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
