Gooooooooooooooooooooood morning brethren, peace unto you and the grace of our lord Jesus be with you. May the Almighty God of hosts stay ever with you this morning and thank you, for joining us here at ‘The Church of Jerusalem and the Christian Nation’ for worship and praise. Let us begin as is our tradition every day here at the Nation, by reading from the word of God. Amen……

Bible Reading.

Hebrews 4. 21st Century King James Version (KJ21)

Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left to us of entering into His rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.

For unto us was the Gospel preached, as well as unto them; but the Word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it.

For we who have believed do enter into rest, as He said, “As I have sworn in My wrath, ‘If they shall enter into My rest’”—although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

For He spoke in a certain place of the seventh day in this way: “And God rested on the seventh day from all His works.”

And again in this place: “If they shall enter into My rest”—.

Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and those to whom it was first preached did not enter in because of unbelief,

again He designates a certain day, saying in David “today,” after so long a time, as it is said, “Today if you will hear His voice, harden not your hearts.”

For if Joshua had given them rest, then He would not afterwards have spoken of another day.

5fef6-floodbible_03a

There remaineth therefore a rest for the people of God.

10 For he that has entered into His rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from His.

11 Let us labor therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall according to the same example of unbelief.

12 For the Word of God is living and powerful and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in His sight, but all things are naked and open unto the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.

14 Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed into the Heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast to our profession.

15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot be touched with the feelings of our infirmities, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.

16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

The Sabbath Day Prayer.

CJCN Small logo

Dear Father in heaven, we thank you that you are our Father and that we may have you with us. We thank you that we can know you are leading us by your hand. Give us your Spirit of understanding so that we may always see your mighty and powerful hand guiding us on all our ways. Help us where we fall short. Help us, for we are weak and are often in situations where we cannot help ourselves. But you are strong. You give light to our hearts. Through the Savior, Jesus Christ, we can direct our lives cheerfully, joyfully, and patiently toward the great goal set before us your children, and before the whole world. In Jesus we pray. Amen.

VERSE OF THE DAY.

Fear not, for I am with you, be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my victorious right hand. Isaiah 41:10, RSV.

The Daily Lesson.

Hebrews 4:1-2.

(1) Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it. (2) For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it.

Notice that the “promise remains” of entering His rest. This is the subject under discussion. At the time of the writing of Hebrews, the rest had not been attained. Nor has it been attained since. The rest is still in the future. It remains even for Christians today. Paul warns, “lest any of you seem to have come short of it,” indicating that though one has received forgiveness, God’s Spirit, and gifts of the Spirit, there is still a possibility of falling away. The chance may not be great, but nonetheless, some may fall short of it.

3f768-god

“For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it” (verse 2). During the time of the Exodus, the people of Israel heard a message of good news from Moses. It consisted of redemption from slavery, the Passoverbaptism in the Red Sea, and a journey through the wilderness to the Promised Land. The good news, then, included the occurrences of and the knowledge about all the steps along the way, all of the benchmarks. The purpose for which all those events occurred was the most important part. What good was it to have the death angel pass over their house, for them to receive redemption from slavery, if they never made it to the Promised Land? That is Paul’s warning. The steps, though vital in themselves, are not as important as the goal.

This warning applies especially to us today. What Jesus Christ did in His life, in His death, and in His resurrection, is awesome, a wonderful and great gift. It is good news that these things have occurred, but they are not thegood news. The good news is the goal, and that has not yet occurred. What Jesus Christ did is exceedingly important to the fulfilment of God’s purpose, but it is still possible for us to reject the Son of God even after we have accepted His blood for the forgiveness of our sins, as Hebrews 6, 10, and 12 also show very clearly. So in this analogy, life in, possession of and governance of the Promised Land was the culmination, the good news, the fulfilment—at least physically—of the promises to Abraham.

The message that Jesus Christ brought, the gospel, is about the Kingdom of God, the culmination, the goal, the fulfilment. Certainly it includes the knowledge of and information about those benchmarks along the way, but the Kingdom of God is the goal toward which every Christian is aiming.

The Church of Jerusalem and the Christian Nation Preaching the word of God.

Evensong, Psalm and Prayer.

By Senior Pastor Don Roy Hemingway.

Gooooooooooooooooooooood Evening brethren, peace unto you and the grace of our lord Jesus be with you. May the Almighty God of hosts stay ever with you this evening and thank you, for joining us here at ‘The Church of Jerusalem and the Christian Nation’ for worship and praise. Let us begin as is our tradition every day here at the Nation, by reading from the word of God. Amen………

Evening Psalm.

Psalm 89. 21st Century King James Version (KJ21)

I will sing of the mercies of the Lord for ever; with my mouth will I make known Thy faithfulness to all generations.

For I have said, “Mercy shall be built up for ever; Thy faithfulness shalt Thou establish in the very heavens.”

“I have made a covenant with My chosen, I have sworn unto David My servant:

‘Thy Seed will I establish for ever, and build up thy throne to all generations.’” Selah

And the heavens shall praise Thy wonders, O Lord, Thy faithfulness also in the congregation of the saints.

For who in the heaven can be compared unto the Lord? Who among the sons of the mighty can be likened unto the Lord?

God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, and to be held in reverence by all them that are about Him.

Lord God of hosts, who is a strong Lord like unto Thee? Or to Thy faithfulness round about Thee?

Thou rulest the raging of the sea; when the waves thereof arise, Thou stillest them.

10 Thou hast broken Rahab in pieces, as one that is slain; Thou hast scattered Thine enemies with Thy strong arm.

image.jpg

11 The heavens are Thine, the earth also is Thine; as for the world and the fullness thereof, Thou hast founded them.

12 The north and the south, Thou hast created them; Tabor and Hermon shall rejoice in Thy name.

13 Thou hast a mighty arm; strong is Thy hand, and high is Thy right hand.

14 Justice and judgment are the habitation of Thy throne; mercy and truth shall go before Thy face.

15 Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound! They shall walk, O Lord, in the light of Thy countenance.

16 In Thy name shall they rejoice all the day, and in Thy righteousness shall they be exalted.

17 For Thou art the glory of their strength, and in Thy favor our horn shall be exalted.

18 For the Lord is our defense, and the Holy One of Israel is our King.

19 Then Thou didst speak in a vision to Thy holy one and said, “I have laid help upon one that is mighty; I have exalted one chosen out of the people.

20 I have found David My servant; with My holy oil have I anointed him.

21 With him My hand shall be established; Mine arm shall also strengthen him.

22 The enemy shall not exact from him, nor the son of wickedness afflict him.

23 And I will beat down his foes before his face, and plague them that hate him.

24 But My faithfulness and My mercy shall be with him, and in My name shall his horn be exalted.

25 I will set his hand also over the sea, and his right hand over the rivers.

26 He shall cry unto Me, ‘Thou art my Father, my God, and the rock of my salvation.’

27 Also I will make him My firstborn, higher than the kings of the earth.

28 My mercy will I keep for him for evermore, and My covenant shall stand fast with him.

29 His Seed also will I make to endure for ever, and his throne as the days of heaven.

30 If his children forsake My law and walk not in My judgments,

31 if they break My statutes and keep not My commandments,

32 then will I visit their transgression with the rod and their iniquity with stripes.

33 Nevertheless My lovingkindness will I not utterly take from him, nor permit My faithfulness to fail.

34 My covenant will I not break, nor alter the things which have gone out of My lips.

35 Once have I sworn by My holiness that I will not lie unto David.

36 His Seed shall endure for ever, and his throne as the sun before Me.

37 It shall be established for ever as the moon, and as a faithful witness in the heaven.” Selah

38 But Thou hast cast off and abhorred; Thou hast been wroth with Thine anointed.

39 Thou hast made void the covenant of Thy servant; Thou hast profaned his crown by casting it to the ground.

jesus christ wallpaper 112118671418..jpg

40 Thou hast broken down all his hedges; Thou hast brought his strongholds to ruin.

41 All that pass by the way despoil him; he is a reproach to his neighbors.

42 Thou hast set up the right hand of his adversaries; Thou hast made all his enemies to rejoice.

43 Thou hast also turned the edge of his sword, and hast not made him to stand in the battle.

44 Thou hast made his glory to cease, and cast his throne down to the ground.

45 The days of his youth hast Thou shortened, Thou hast covered him with shame. Selah

46 How long, Lord? Wilt Thou hide Thyself for ever? Shall Thy wrath burn like fire?

47 Remember how short my time is; why hast Thou made all men in vain?

48 What man is he that liveth and shall not see death? Shall he deliver his soul from the hand of the grave? Selah

49 Lord, where are Thy former lovingkindnesses, which Thou hast sworn unto David in Thy truth?

50 Remember, Lord, the reproach against Thy servants” how I bear in my bosom the reproach of all the mighty people

51 wherewith Thine enemies have reproached, O Lord, wherewith they have reproached the footsteps of Thine anointed.

52 Blessed be the Lord for evermore! Amen and Amen.

Evening Prayer.

CJCN Small logo

GOD, the Creator and Preserver of all mankind, we humbly beseech thee for all sorts and conditions of men; that thou wouldest be pleased to make thy ways known unto them, thy saving health unto all nations. More especially we pray for thy holy Church universal; that it may he so guided and governed by thy good Spirit, that all who profess and call themselves Christians may be led into the way of truth, and hold the faith in unity of spirit, in the bond of peace, and in righteousness of life. Finally, we commend to thy fatherly goodness all those who are any ways afflicted, or distressed, in mind, body, or estate; [*especially those for whom our prayers are desired;] that it may please thee to comfort and relieve them, according to their several necessities; giving them patience under their sufferings, and a happy issue out of all their afflictions. And this we beg for Jesus Christ’s sake. Amen.

Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.

Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:

10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:

11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

Bible Reading.

Matthew 24. 21st Century King James Version (KJ21)

And Jesus went out and departed from the temple, and His disciples came to Him to show Him the buildings of the temple.

And Jesus said unto them, “See ye not all these things? Verily I say unto you, there shall not be left here one stone upon another that shall not be thrown down.”

And as He sat upon the Mount of Olives, the disciples came unto Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when shall these things be? And what shall be the sign of Thy coming and of the end of the world?”

And Jesus answered and said unto them, “Take heed that no man deceive you;

for many shall come in My name, saying, ‘I am Christ,’ and shall deceive many.

And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that ye be not troubled, for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

For nation shall rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom, and there shall be famines and pestilences and earthquakes in divers places.

All these are the beginning of sorrows.

Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted and shall kill you, and ye shall be hated by all nations for My name’s sake.

10 And then shall many lose faith and shall betray one another and shall hate one another.

11 And many false prophets shall rise and shall deceive many.

12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.

13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved.

14 And this Gospel of the Kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations, and then shall the end come.

15 “When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (whoso readeth, let him understand),

IMG_20171119_123053_BURST001_COVER-EFFECTS.jpg

16 then let them that be in Judea flee unto the mountains.

17 Let him that is on the housetop not come down to take anything out of his house;

18 neither let him that is in the field return back to take his clothes.

19 And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days!

20 But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the Sabbath day.

21 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be.

22 And unless those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved; but for the elect’s sake, those days shall be shortened.

23 Then if any man shall say unto you, ‘Lo, here is Christ,’ or ‘there,’ believe it not.

24 For there shall arise false christs and false prophets and shall show great signs and wonders, insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect.

25 Behold, I have told you before.

26 Therefore, if they shall say unto you, ‘Behold, He is in the desert!’ go not forth; or ‘Behold, He is in the secret chambers!’ believe it not.

27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east and shineth even unto the west, so shall also the coming of the Son of Man be.

28 For wheresoever the carcass is, there will the eagles be gathered together.

29 “Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken,

30 and then shall appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of Man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and with great glory.

31 And He shall send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.

32 “Now learn a parable of the fig tree: When his branch is yet tender and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh.

33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.

34 Verily I say unto you, this generation shall not pass till all these things be fulfilled.

35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but My Words shall not pass away.

IMG_20171119_123100.jpg

36 But of that day and hour, knoweth no man, no, not the angels of Heaven, but My Father only.

37 But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of Man be.

38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark

39 and knew not until the flood came and took them all away, so shall also the coming of the Son of Man be.

40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken and the other left.

41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken and the other left.

42 “Watch therefore, for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.

43 But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched and would not have suffered his house to be broken into.

44 Therefore be ye also ready, for in such an hour as ye think not, the Son of Man cometh.

45 “Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season?

46 Blessed is that servant whom his lord, when he cometh, shall find so doing.

47 Verily I say unto you, that he shall make him ruler over all his goods.

48 But if that evil servant shall say in his heart, ‘My lord delayeth his coming,’

49 and shall begin to smite his fellow servants and to eat and drink with the drunken,

50 the lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of,

51 and shall cut him asunder and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

The Daily Prayer.

CJCN Small logo

Lord God, we thank you as we look back to the times throughout the ages when your servants lifted a voice to witness that you are our Father, that you lead the peoples to their true goal. However long it may take, we thank you for allowing us to be part of this witness. We thank you that so much love and goodness still shine into our time as a light to the nations. Watch over us. May your Spirit grow stronger and stronger within us. Bring the redemption proclaimed by your servants, and let your light dawn over all lands to the honour of your name. Amen.

VERSE OF THE DAY.

Luke 2:6-7.

6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, 7 and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.

The Daily Lesson.

Matthew 24:36-39

(36) “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only. (37) But as the days of Noah were, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be. (38) For as in the days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, (39) and did not know until the flood came and took them all away, so also will the coming of the Son of Man be.

7e9fa-simon-jesus-cross-cruxifiction

Though our present day rivals Noah’s in corruption and evil, this meaning of Matthew 24:36-39 is actually the secondary interpretation. The primary meaning is more simple: Christ would come at a time when most of the world was busy doing its normal activities.

Notice verse 36: “But of that day and hour no one knows, no, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.” This is the subject sentence of the entire paragraph. Verse 42 repeats the thought: “Watch therefore, for you do not know what hour your Lord is coming.” Jesus rephrases it in verse 44: “Therefore you also be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not expect Him.”

Luke’s version makes this especially clear:

And as it was in the days of Noah, so it will be in the days of the Son of Man: They ate, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all. Likewise as it was also in the days of Lot: They ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built; but on the day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all. Even so will it be in the day when the Son of Man is revealed. (Luke 17:26-30)

People will be involved in their normal activities, not realizing such a momentous event is about to occur!

Paul writes that “the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. For when they say, ‘Peace and safety!’ then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape” (I Thessalonians 5:2-3). Just when men begin to think they have a handle on society’s problems, total chaos and destruction will erupt.

9e49d-janmot2blouis

Peter reminds us of scoffers coming in the last days who would say, “Where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation” (II Peter 3:4). The apostle goes on to cite the example of the Flood—which came on suddenly and unexpectedly—as an event that broke the natural cycle of life (verses 5-6). Such is the time of Christ’s return.

All of these prophetic warnings include the admonition to watch and be ready for it when it comes. As Paul says:

But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. . . . Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober, . . . putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation. (I Thessalonians 5:4, 6, 8)

Christ’s return will not be sudden and unexpected to the church. We may not know the day or the hour, but we will be somewhere “in the ballpark.” Jesus says His day “will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth” (Luke 21:35). But, as verse 34 says, if we “take heed to [our]selves,” not being mired down by sin, we will be expecting it.

We are certainly living in times very like those of the days of Noah, so the return of Christ could come anytime soon. Knowing this, our job is to watch and pray and overcome so “that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man” (verse 36).
