The CJCN Sabbath Day Worship.
By Senior Pastor Don Roy Hemingway.
Pastor Don Roy. Gooooooooooooooooooooood Sbbath morning brethren, Shabbat Shalom. Peace unto you and the grace of our lord Jesus be with you. May the Almighty God of hosts stay ever with you this day and thank you, for joining us here at ‘The Church of Jerusalem and the Christian Nation’ for worship and praise on this, the day of the lord. Let us begin as is our tradition every day here at the Nation, by reading from the word of God. Amen………
1 Peter 5. 21st Century King James Version (KJ21)
1 The elders who are among you I exhort, who am also an elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and also a partaker of the glory that shall be revealed:
2 feed the flock of God which is among you, taking the oversight of them, not by constraint but willingly, not for filthy lucre but out of a ready mind,
3 neither as being lords over God’s heritage, but by being examples to the flock.
4 And when the Chief Shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive a crown of glory that fadeth not away.
5 Likewise, ye younger, submit yourselves unto the elder. Yea, all of you be subject one to another, and be clothed with humility; for “God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble.”
6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time,
7 casting all your cares upon Him, for He careth for you.
8 Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversary the devil walketh about as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour.
9 Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren who are in the world.
10 But after ye have suffered a while, may the God of all grace, who hath called us into His eternal glory by Christ Jesus, make you perfect, establish, strengthen, settle you.
11 To Him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
12 By Silvanus, whom I account to be a faithful brother unto you, I have written briefly, exhorting and testifying that this is the true grace of God wherein ye stand.
13 The church that is at Babylon, elected together with you, saluteth you, and so doth Mark, my son.
14 Greet ye one another with a kiss of charity. Peace be with you all who are in Christ Jesus. Amen.
Verse of the Day.
Sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous things; his right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him. The Lord has made his salvation known and revealed his righteousness to the nations. He has remembered his love and his faithfulness to Israel; all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God. Psalm 98:1-3, NIV.
The CJCN. Daily Prayer.
Lord our God, we thank you from our hearts, from the bottom of our hearts, that you consider us worthy to work with you so that redemption may come to the world in Jesus Christ. Already today many are rejoicing in their Redeemer. They are full of hope and comfort because the end is approaching – that evening when your glory shall be revealed, when the whole world and all nations shall glorify you, O great God and Father in heaven. Come into our time, we pray. Help us, Lord our God. Day and night we look to you in the hope of beholding the time of your glory, in the hope of receiving the peace that is beyond all understanding and of finding redemption, the great redemption from heaven, through you, the God over all flesh. Amen.
The CJCN Sabbath Day Lesson.
(8) Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. (9) Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.
This verse indicates that there is little room for carelessness. We are being called upon to be thoroughly self-controlled and to be alert. Why? Because Satan aims to undermine our confidence, to sow discord, and to get us to stop believing and revert to carnality. These are the directions in which he will try to push us.
Notice Peter writes, “Whom he may devour.” “May” indicates permission is given. He has the ability to devour us spiritually, but it does not have to happen. Putting the advice in verse 8 into more common language, instead of saying. “Be sober,” we might say, “Keep cool,” “Keep your head screwed on right,” “Don’t lose your presence of mind,” “Try to keep calm about this,” “Don’t be fearful,” or “Don’t lose your temper.”
He also says to “Be vigilant,” which means “to watch.” This same phraseology is used in reference to prayer. It is part of our responsibility to pray that we not enter into temptation. It is part of being vigilant.
All of these things—the roaring lion, the resisting, the afflictions, suffering, persecution, perfection, and strength—are related as parts of operations that fulfill God’s purpose for us. We have to begin by understanding that Satan—despite his incredible intelligence, cleverness, and power—is still yet an unwitting dupe in God’s hand to bring about His purpose. God is far more powerful than Satan. As great as is Satan’s power over us, God’s is far greater over Satan.
Have a great Sabbath day Brothers and Sisters of the CJCN.
The Lord bless you and keep you; The Lord make His face to shine upon you and be ever gracious unto you; The Lord lift up His countenance upon you, and grant you peace, now and evermore. In Jesus we proclaim. Amen.
