It is with great joy that I return to the work of the ministry this evening after a short break to recharge my batteries after months of illness. I’m feeling much better and praise be to God, much restored in my physical, mental and spiritual health.
The sun has descended into the far Western horizon, so now we welcome again, the day of the lord. Praise Him this Sabbath. Amen.
Exodus 20:8-11 King James Version (KJV)
8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
11 For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.
The Sabbath Prayer.
Heavenly Father, thank You for not leaving us without counsel on issues that are hard for us to figure out. Thank You also for teaching us the wisdom of seeing not only what the impact on ourselves will be, but also the higher, broader, more eternal implications of our actions. Help me be motivated by nothing less than Your honor and others’ protection, so that I will not disgrace either You or them by the example of my lifestyle. I pray this in Jesus’ Name, Amen.
A Psalm to set the Sabbath.
Psalm 56 King James Version (KJV)
1 Be merciful unto me, O God: for man would swallow me up; he fighting daily oppresseth me.
2 Mine enemies would daily swallow me up: for they be many that fight against me, O thou most High.
3 What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.
4 In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.
5 Every day they wrest my words: all their thoughts are against me for evil.
6 They gather themselves together, they hide themselves, they mark my steps, when they wait for my soul.
7 Shall they escape by iniquity? in thine anger cast down the people, O God.
8 Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book?
9 When I cry unto thee, then shall mine enemies turn back: this I know; for God is for me.
10 In God will I praise his word: in the Lord will I praise his word.
11 In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me.
12 Thy vows are upon me, O God: I will render praises unto thee.
13 For thou hast delivered my soul from death: wilt not thou deliver my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living?
